Pre Filters Can Extend Your Water Heater Lifespan.
Sand and sediments in your heater kickstart corrosion, fast. They scratch the inside of your heater tank, weakening the glass lining and causing it to crack.
Micro cracks in the inner tank weakens it and causes the heater tank to break after several years. That's when you need to get a new heater.
Pre filters slow down this process.
Sand in your tank affects the water you shower with.
If sand gets to sit in your heater tank for a long time, it even yellows your hot water.
This is why water tanks in buildings get cleaned out every year. Removing sand keeps the water clean. For that same reason, we advice heater tank flushing every 3 years.
Th thing is, if your water is yellow, you won't know it. The spray of water coming out of our shower head is too fine. you'll know only if you collect the water in a pail.
Sand in your heater also lowers the amount of hot water You Get.
Sand and particles don't belong in a usually clear tank. They affect hot water efficiency by blocking smooth heat transfer and convection.
This is why you should never let sand get into your water heater in the first place. For this reason, most pre filters are fixed right before your water heater. They are your first line of defence.
If you know where Your Incoming water pipe is, even better. Fix it there.
Placing a pre filter at the entry point protects your other water-related appliances. This includes your washing machine, sink taps, bath mixers, and water purifiers..
All these appliances are affected by sand from incoming water. More sand means washing machines need more cleaning. Water filters have to be changed often. Bath mixers get jammed.
A pre filter reduces sand by 70%, so your appliances are protected.
You can flush out the sand yourself every 3 months.
Step 1: Hold a medium pail beneath the pre filter.
Step 2: Twist the black lever for 30 seconds. See sand and water collect in the pail.
Step 3: Sand is not toxic. Use it to wash the floor or water the plants.
Step 4: The filter is cleared and your home water is clean.
Here's what the sand and sediments look like.
Our clients love seeing what the pre filter clears out. They send pictures raving about what has been cleared out.
The cool thing? Dirt looks different in every district. In Sentosa, there's a lot of sand. In old estates, rust-like bits like in this picture. In landed homes, it can be dark, organic soil.
Not all water is the same, but what matters is that this stuff is getting cleared out.
How does the pre filter work?
In the body of the pre filter, you will see a food-grade stainless-steel filter mesh. This mesh stops large bits of sand from flowing in to your water pipe.
The dirt collects outside the mesh, so you can actually see it build up. Truth is, I doubted this until I got one fixed at home. Sharing my pictures here!
How long does a pre filter last?
Pre filters are hardy enough to be considered part of your water pipes. The estimated life span is 10 years, but it depends on your water quality.
Some clients change it after 6 years. They keep forgetting to flush it and the sand has damaged the mesh. Some have used it for 10 years and it is still good as new.
If your water quality is poor, you may engage us to a deep cleansing of your filter. This is not compulsory and should only be done when needed.
In a deep-cleanse, the pre filter is professionally dismantled with a special tool and thoroughly scrubbed. The result is a filter that looks almost brand new.
Changing is not always the solution. At times, you can get more value out of good maintenance.
The pre filter can be installed in HDB and landed homes with complete peace of mind. It will not reduce the water pressure.

For best results, use the correct Pre Filter size for your location.
Big pre filters are great for landed homes or large scale schools and hotels. They allow a great volume of water flow.
HDB and apartments should go for the smaller filters.
We will help you size the pre filter if you are not sure.
Today I installed chlorine filter and pre-filter. Everything was nicely and professionally done. The system is located in my storeroom.
I am very pleased with the demo after the system was fixed up. It was clearly explained to me.
Looking forward to enjoy clean and clear water.

Pre Filter FAQ
Where to Install The Pre Filter?
Install the filter on any pipe before the water heater. Make sure there is at least 40cm of clear space below the filter for easy maintenance.
You can also fix your pre-filter under the kitchen sink, before the heater tank, or at the incoming water pipe of your home.
How To Flush Sediments from Pre Filter?
It is so easy to flush a pre filter.
What we love is that there are no service packages involved.
You can easily flush the filter on your own as it comes with a twist valve. Simply place a pail beneath the filter and the incoming water pressure will flush all the sediments out into the pail.
How Often Should I Flush My Pre Filter?
Water quality varies from area to area in Singapore, but a comfortable time to flush the filter is once every 3 months.
If you have a clear body pre filter (only available for those installed in closed areas not exposed to sunlight), you get to see sediments collect in it.
Once you see visible sediments, the pre filter is good for a flush! Go ahead and clear it out 🙂
Do pre filter parts require replacement?
Unlike foam filters, the stainless steel filter mesh does not need to be changed. It can last several years.
Incoming water pressure flushes out sediments and clears the mesh. You may require a filter scrub every 3 years to remove stubborn particles that have lodged in the mesh.
